      • Overview
        • Heptakis-(6-azido-6-deoxy)-β-cyclodextrin is an azido modified cyclodextrin derivative. It is a cyclic oligosaccharide of seven glucose subunits joined by α-1,4 glycosidic bonds in the shape of a truncated cone. It can form inclusion complexes in aqueous solutions, with a variety of substrates, and acts as an enhancer of aqueous solubility for small organic molecules. The azido group allows further functionalisation. This compound has been used in chiral stationary phase chromatography where it is immobilised onto the surface of amino-functionalized silica.
