CIRBP produced in E. Coli is a single, non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 192 amino acids (1-172 a.a.) and having a molecular mass of 20.8kDa. CIRBP is fused to a 20 amino acid His-tag at N-terminus & purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques. Cold inducible RNA-binding protein (CIRBP) has a protective role in the genotoxic stress response by stabilizing transcripts of genes involved in cell survival. CIRBP localizes to the nucleus and contains one RRM (RNA recognition motif) domain. Expressed ubiquitously, CIRBP is believed to play a crucial role in the suppression of cellular proliferation in response to UV irradiation or extreme cold.
