AK5 Human Recombinant produced in E. Coli is a single, non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 586 amino acids (1-562 a.a.) and having a molecular mass of 65.9kDa. AK5 is fused to a 24 amino acid His-tag at N-terminus & purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques. Adenylate kinase isoenzyme 5 (AK5) belongs to the adenylate kinase family, which is involved in regulating the adenine nucleotide composition within a cell by catalyzing the reversible transfer of phosphate groups among adenine nucleotides. AK5 is related to the UMP/CMP kinase of several species. AK5 is located in the cytosol and expressed exclusively in the brain.
