Sodium taurocholate is the sodium salt of taurocholic acid, and the main end product of cholesterol catabolism. It is a bile acid which produced by conjugation of cholic acid with taurine. It is an anionic detergent and used for solubilization of membrane-bound proteins, bilirubin, phospholipids and others.
