Charcoal: dextran stripped fetal bovine serum is a serum product with low content steroids. The concentration of many hormones and growth factors, such as estradiol, cortisol, corticosterone, vitamins B, T3, T4, prostaglandins, etc. can be reduced by carbon adsorption in serum. The serum is suitable for experiments where some of the above molecules may interfere with experimental results, and may reduce cell growth performance for those cell culture requiring these molecules.
