Immunofluorescence Antibody Products

Background

Immunofluorescence (IF) uses fluorescein to directly or indirectly conjugate antibodies, use fluorescence or confocal microscopy to visualize and observe target molecules, and determine the expression abundance and localization of target molecules in cells or tissues according to fluorescence intensity and expression location. Amerigo Scientific offers a wide selection of immunofluorescence antibodies, including antibodies against unique and rare targets.

What Are Immunofluorescence Antibodies?

Immunofluorescence antibodies are antibodies conjugated to fluorescent dyes or fluorophores. These antibodies bind to specific antigens in cells or tissues and, when exposed to specific wavelengths of light, emit fluorescence that can be detected and imaged using a fluorescence microscope.

To get immunofluorescent antibodies to understand protein localization, expression patterns, and interactions within cells and tissues

Types of Immunofluorescence Antibodies

Primary Antibodies

  • Bind specifically to the target antigen and directly labeled with a fluorescent dye.
  • Simplify the protocol by eliminating the need for a secondary antibody.

Secondary Antibodies

  • Bind to a primary antibody that is specific to the target antigen, and not directly labeled.
  • Amplify the signal from the primary antibody, labeled with a fluorescent dye.

Common Fluorescent Dyes

  • FITC (fluorescein isothiocyanate): Emits green fluorescence.
  • TRITC (tetramethylrhodamine isothiocyanate): Emits red fluorescence.
  • DAPI (4',6-diamidino-2-phenylindole): Binds to DNA and emits blue fluorescence.
  • Cy3 and Cy5: Emit orange-red and far-red fluorescence, respectively

Immunofluorescence Antibodies Selection

Specificity Validation Fluorophore Selection Species Compatibility
Ensure that the selected antibody is highly specific for the target antigen to minimize non-specific staining. Use antibodies validated for immunofluorescence to ensure reliable performance. Select fluorophores based on the available filters on the fluorescence microscope and the need for multiplexing. Ensure that the secondary antibodies are compatible with the host species of the primary antibodies.

Advantages of Immunofluorescence Antibodies

Immunofluorescence antibodies offer numerous advantages, including high sensitivity and specificity, the ability to perform spatial and quantitative analysis, compatibility with advanced microscopy techniques, and broad applicability in both research and clinical settings. These benefits make IF a powerful and versatile tool for studying proteins, cellular structures, and disease mechanisms.

Applications of Immunofluorescence Antibodies

  • Co-Localization Studies

By using multiple antibodies conjugated to different fluorophores, it is possible to determine whether two or more proteins are located in the same cellular region, thus indicating their interaction.

  • Disease Diagnostics

IF is used to detect specific biomarkers in tissue samples that help in the diagnosis and classification of a variety of diseases, such as cancer, autoimmune diseases.
