Phloroglucinol (phlo) is a benzenetriol with hydroxy groups at position 1, 3 and 5 and belongs to the group of phenol derivatives. Phloroglucinols are well known for their broad-spectrum antiviral, antibacterial, antifungal, antihelminthic, and phytotoxic activities. They are widely produced in several families such as the Myrtaceae family, Aspidiaceae, Guttiferae, Euphorbiaceae, Lauraceae, Rutaceae, Compositae, Rosaceae, Clusiaceae, Crassulaceae, Cannabinaceae, and Fagaceae.
