  - GenMute™ siRNA Transfection Reagent for MEFs is pre-optimized for transfecting siRNA to Mouse Embryonic Fibroblast s (MEFs). MEFs are required to support the growth of undifferentiated mouse or human ES cells, iPS cells, thus they are also called feeder cells. MEFs are isolated from mouse embryos and are used at their early passages. Before MEFs are used as feeder cells, they must be treated by irradiation or mitomycin C to stop the cells from further dividing.

    Store at 4 °C. If stored properly, the product is stable for 12 months or longer.
    
    Note
    
    PepMute™, GenMute™ and PepMute™ Plus siRNA transfection reagents are found to be sometimes toxic ONLY with DMEM base cell culture medium. Culturing your cells with other cell media (supplemented with 10% FBS and antibiotics) will basically eliminate the transfection toxicity. If you find toxicity and high cell death, it may be because DMEM base medium supplemented with 10% FBS and antibiotics was used to culture the cells. To remove the transfection toxicity, DMEM can be replaced with DMEM/F12 or RPMI 1640 as base medium. Although we haven't figured out why, it does minimize toxicity. Please try it!
