Sterilizing-grade hydrophobic filters are the core components used in industrial fields such as pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, food and beverage, and electronics to ensure the sterile state of gases and specific liquids. The most used material for hydrophobic sterilizing-grade filtration membranes is polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), which has extremely low surface energy and exhibits outstanding hydrophobic properties. Additionally, PTFE has strong chemical inertness and can withstand strong acids, strong bases, various organic solvents, and corrosive chemicals. This enables PTFE to be used for filtering corrosive non-aqueous liquids. The strong hydrophobic property makes filters an ideal choice for gas filtration. In humid air or steam environments, the filter membrane would not be wetted by condensation water and clogged, thus ensuring the stable flow of gases.
Amerigo Scientific offers Filgiant® sterilizing-grade hydrophobic filters, which are composed of single-layer or double-layer polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) membranes and polypropylene components. These filters possess excellent chemical compatibility and characteristics such as high flow rate, high flux, and no fiber shedding. Various filter sizes and connectors are available to meet extensive usage requirements.
