The Visualizer HP-UVis NxG features 254, 310, 345 and 366nm mercury vapour UV lamps, offering a wide range of observation options.

Two inclined plate tables with non-slip surface are positioned one above the other. Incident stray light is minimized by the cabinet which is closed on 3 sides so that an observation is possible without the need of a darkroom. Due to the use of a high pressure mercury vapour discharge lamp, the HP-UVIS provides a very high radiation intensity at 366nm for fluorescence evaluation of thin-layer chromatograms. In this respect, it is superior to all analyzing lamps with cold light tubes. Fluorescent substances can still be detected in nanogram quantities. One 8W low pressure tube together with a selected filter guarantee an optimum contrast at 254nm. The HP-UVIS is equipped with a UV protection shield.

It does not require the use of a darkroom. To increase contrast, it is important to filter visible light using a special filter. At 254nm, the substances on the TLC/HPTLC plates contain a fluorescence indicator which appears dark against a light-fluorescent background. This type of high-energy lamp can detect substances in the nanogram range. You can replace one of the lamps in the HP-UVis NxG TLC Viewer with a white-light lamp if required. The HP-UVis NxG TLC viewer is equipped with a tilting UV protection tray. Users can work on TLC or HPTLC plates (pencil marking, preparative TLC, etc.). A built-in safety system cuts the power supply to the UV lamps if the tray is tilted by more than 45°C.
