BACKGROUND: The Gn protein is a key structural component of the Rift Valley fever virus (RVFV), an important pathogen that affects both humans and animals. The Gn protein, along with the Gc protein, forms the glycoprotein envelope that surrounds the RVFV virion. These glycoproteins are essential for virus entry into host cells. The Gn and Gc proteins are embedded in the viral membrane and are responsible for recognizing and binding to host cell receptors, initiating the process of viral entry.
