Full Name: Varicella zoster virus Envelope glycoprotein H and L
BACKGROUND: Varicella-Zoster Virus (VZV) gH/gL Complex is a critical component of the viral envelope that plays a key role in the virus's ability to infect host cells. The gH/gL complex interacts with other viral proteins, particularly gB (glycoprotein B), to mediate membrane fusion. gB is the actual fusogen, but its activity is regulated by the gH/gL complex. The interaction between gH/gL and specific receptors on the host cell surface triggers conformational changes that allow gB to drive the fusion process.
