BACKGROUND: Tobacco Mosaic Virus is a rod-shaped plant virus that primarily infects tobacco plants. Its genome is encased in a helical capsid made up of numerous copies of the TMV coat protein. This protein protects the viral RNA and is involved in virus assembly and disassembly during infection.
