    Z22 is highly specific to Z-DNA, a left-handed double helical structure that is distinct from the right-handed B-DNA, the most common DNA conformation. Z-DNA is typically formed transiently in regions of DNA under torsional stress, such as during transcription.
    Z22 also binds to Z-RNA, a similarly left-handed structure, though less common, that can form under certain conditions in RNA sequences.
