Introduction

HBeAg (Hepatitis B e Antigen) is a viral protein associated with the Hepatitis B virus (HBV). It is considered an important marker of viral replication and infectivity in individuals infected with HBV. HBeAg is a soluble, non-particulate form of the HBV core antigen. Unlike the HBcAg, which remains within the liver cells and is associated with the viral capsid, HBeAg is secreted into the blood, making it detectable in the serum of infected individuals.
